NUTRITION

I help women understand what their bodies need to heal, grow stronger, and feel their energy return.

“All our body is ever trying to do is to look after us, if we let it”

Powerful words spoken by my lecturers on my nutrition course with The Nutritional Healing Foundation.

I went on a journey to discover what my body needed nutritionally to help it to recover. It all starts with the cell.

We are made up of about 40 trillion cells. Having lectured in anatomy and physiology for 10 years I understood the components of the cell but had not fully appreciated the connection with nutrition and our emotions.

The cell needs: energy, hydration, good fats, be able to cleanse themselves by removing toxins and waste and have proper nourishment for all the processes the cell carries out.

So, I implemented all that I learnt slowly. In fact, for the first three months, I just increased my water intake. It was a fascinating journey to discover what my body needed from gut health and understanding ‘leaky gut’ to foods that support you and those that will increase inflammation and stress on the body so putting it into the stressful fight or flight situation.

The real “aha” moment came when I researched into the gut brain connection and for the first time began to recognise the bidirectional movement of this process. I was so empowered by all the information I had gathered that I then became a nutritionist to help and support other women.

When energy is an issue cooking can be energy draining but there are a few tips you can do that may help you. The most important tip I can give you is you do not have to be perfect with your eating. Be kind to yourself. Make the changes slowly over time and when you are ready. Learning to love your body is key because you then want to supply it with food that will help it to heal.

Since recovering I have built 3 raised beds in my garden to grow some of my own fruit and vegetables and I enjoy cooking nutritional delicious meals that support my body and therefore help it to look after me. Is it easy? No, not always! Do I make good choices all the time? No. We are all human! What I will give you are some tips and then you can choose for yourself when you have the information in front of you.

When I coach, I can also give nutritional tips on looking after your body naturally. What foods will support your recovery and what foods may hinder it. I appreciate we are all different but there is some common ground and that is where I can help you.

I would be delighted to share these insights with you.
