From Fatigue to Freedom
An inspiring journey to better energy and brighter days
This is a beautifully illustrated and uplifting story of hope that takes very little effort to read but will guide you on an achievable, manageable road to recovery. As you read, you’ll gently uncover ideas and approaches that you can use right away to start your own journey from fatigue to freedom.
There is hope. You can regain control. There are brighter days ahead.
I know how it feels to be exhausted all the time, too tired to even lift your head off the pillow. I’ve experienced first-hand the desperate, debilitating feelings of frustration, despair, and sadness that so often accompany chronic fatigue. And I understand how confused, overwhelmed, and lonely you might feel right now.
Over the years, I’ve researched and explored everything that helped me on my own road to recovery, and I’ve written this book to share what I’ve learned with you. Through the story’s main character, Angela, you’ll journey through a magical land and gently discover simple, practical ways to create change - in your mindset, your daily habits, your nutrition, and more - to help you move towards recovery.
The fascinating characters you’ll meet along the way each bring you a toolbox of powerful ideas, techniques, and insights. Through their experiences, you’ll learn how to manage your energy, understand the importance of rest and repair, and feel empowered to believe that recovery is not only possible, but entirely within your reach.
There’s no baffling science or confusing jargon—just an uplifting, inspiring story filled with hope and golden nuggets you can use to support yourself as you heal. There is a resource section at the back of the book, and the foreword is written by Professor Patel who runs the Chronic Fatigue Centre in the Midlands.
“So I have a diagnosis but no treatment. What on earth am I supposed to do now? I feel completely devastated. To be told I have CFS and must put up with it is utterly demoralising. I’ve had the rug pulled from under me. I feel I have no control over my life. I feel disempowered. I’ve been told there’s nothing I can do but rest”.
Angela then goes on a journey to help her to understand how to start her recovery by getting out of the fight and flight response and into the rest and repair response to allow the body to recover and heal. She is given 10 magic marbles which physically appear or disappear depending on how she uses her energy. She meets 12 glorious characters along the way who help her to understand how to achieve this and they give her techniques and suggestions as to what and how to do it. Each character will make you smile, and they will give you ideas from gut health and nutrition to mindset and breathing techniques.
At the end of her journey she is back home, sitting in her favourite chair:
“I sit down on my favourite velvet green chair with my water and herbal tea and enjoy this new me. I pick up one of my favourite books, Charlie Mackesy’s The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, and it falls open at the page that says, ‘One day you’ll see how hard it was and how brave you were …”
When you are struggling, reading a book full of hope that will whisk you away in a magical story but full of easy to do tips and ideas is uplifting. Don’t you want some of that? I certainly did which is why I wrote it.
I needed this book. My family and friends needed this book. My GP needed this book. Story telling is so important and those days of sitting around the campfires and sharing stories is still within us. I love stories and I hope this story will empower you and help you to feel back in control when you may feel lost.
So lay back, relax and read your way to a better recovery!
